Jackie

Once you can express yourself, you can tell the world what you want from it. . . All the changes in the world, for good or evil, were first brought about by words.

Jackie is a biographical drama film that will come out tomorrow (9th February 2016) to the theaters in Portugal. It portrays the life of First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy during the days after the 1963 assassination of her husband John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis caught my attention not only because of her strong and intelligent personality as a woman but also because she is one of the greatest style icons of the last century. Every style icon has a signature look and Jaqueline is no exception. The well-tailored suit of a bright rainbow color paired with the pillbox hat and the white gloves sets the ‘Jackie’ look. The look that makes me wishing for a pink suit. Despite I love her work uniform, it was her effortless off-duty outfits that proves her good taste (and melts my heart!). Her trademark round shades, the headscarf and the loafers combined with a monochromatic basic dress, cropped trousers or head-to-toe white combo. Last but not least, her hairstyle (what I like the most!) during the First Lady years. Her short hair styled to stand out from the head in a rounded shape – the bouffant. I really like this hairstyle, it gives her so much power specially combined with her pearls on the neck. What I think that we should learn from her is that basics are always a good idea and if combined with a trademark cloth, object or hairstyle even better. Knowing Jackie was a really pleasure to me, I hope you like it.

  1. Wow! I love Jackie Kennedy!! She was so stylish. She wore a lot of Chanel, Valentino and Balenciaga. She also got Oleg Cassini to copy some of the latest in Paris fashion for her!

And she was friends with Valentino! So was Audrey Hepburn at the time.
